Released in February 2026, The First Albanese Government: Governing in an Age of Disruption and Division, 2022–2025 is a book edited by University of Canberra academics Michelle Grattan, John Halligan, and John Hawkins, and published by the University of New South Wales press.
It analyses the Albanese Labor government's first term, from its narrow victory in 2022 to a large 2025 majority, focusing on economic turbulence, international shifts, the failed Voice referendum, and key reforms.
The book includes two chapters by Centre for Environmental Governance members on climate and environmental policy:
'Reality bites: Climate change and the energy transition' by Jo Mummery and Darren Sinclair, and
'Delayed ambitions: Environmental policy' by Evan Hamman and Jacki Schirmer.
