Date: Monday, 14 October 2024
About: From 14-18 October 2024 the Earth System Governance Project, a global network of researchers working on governance of environmental change, is hosting a hybrid forum on the theme of “Re-imagining Earth System Governance in an Era of Polycrisis”. The University of Canberra, which hosts the Project’s Australia Research Centre (one of eighteen Research Centres worldwide), together with colleagues at the Australian National University, CSIRO and University of Technology Sydney, is organising a day of hybrid panels and interactive sessions on the first day of the forum, featuring Australian and international researchers.
The event is aimed at researchers, policy-makers and practitioners working on sustainability and environmental governance/policy.
Sessions will feature a variety of formats designed to encourage discussion and generate new ideas. Sessions will tackle issues such as:
how future food systems can be aligned with principles of justice and equity;
opportunities for researchers and practitioners to work together more effectively to advance sustainability transformations;
how speculative futures methods can open up new ways of thinking about sustainability; and
potential for deliberative and reflexive practices to generate the rethinking needed to address intersecting crises.
An overview of the session schedule can be downloaded below:
The in-person component will be held on UC’s main campus (building 23 [University of Canberra Innovation Centre], room 23B5).
