About

Smallholder farmers have been the backbone of food production in South-East Asia for centuries. But times are changing. Climate change, urbanisation, and shifting markets are transforming the agricultural landscape. This project aims to identify impact pathways for inclusive, sustainable smallholder farmers from the current to the future (2050). Pathways include a nuanced understanding of needed farmer behavioural change, incentives, and associated supporting policies to enhance sustainable smallholder livelihoods.

The Centre for Environmental Governance acknowledges the Ngunnawal people, traditional custodians of the lands where Bruce campus is situated. We wish to acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of Canberra and the region. We also acknowledge all other First Nations Peoples on whose lands we gather.
